Pro Terms
Effective date: 2026-11-07 · Version: 2026-11-07
The short version. Tell the truth, upload only genuine documents, never fake or filter your customer confirmations, use the badge only through our live code, and don't say we endorse you. Your rank comes only from your proof, and money can't change it. We can be wrong too, so tell us and we'll fix it fast.
1. These terms and who they cover
These Pro Terms apply to any business, and anyone acting for it, that claims or adds a listing, uploads documents, uses our badges, banners, signs or toolkit, or buys a sponsored placement on ProveHound, which is run by Search Converts LLC (“we”). They add to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, which also apply to you. If they conflict, these Pro Terms win for pro matters. You agree by ticking the box when you claim or add a listing. You confirm that you're at least 18 and authorized to act for the business.
2. Your information must be true
- Keep your listing accurate and current: name, trades, service area, phone, website and lead email.
- Upload only genuine, unaltered, current documents that belong to your business. Submitting a forged or altered insurance certificate or license can be a crime. If you do, we will remove your listing and may report it to the insurer, the licensing agency or the police.
- Tell us within 10 days if a policy is cancelled, a license lapses, is suspended or revoked, or a disciplinary action is taken against you. You can do this in your dashboard.
- You let us check your documents with the issuer (for example by calling the insurer on the certificate). We may use AI to read them; a person decides.
3. Customer confirmations: the rules
- Send confirmation requests only for real, completed jobs, and only to the actual customer, using an email address they gave you. You must have their permission to share it with us so we can contact them about this job.
- No filtering. Don't pick only happy customers after asking how it went, and don't ask customers to confirm only if they're satisfied. Customers can confirm, rate, or report a problem.
- No incentives. Don't offer money, discounts, gifts or anything else for confirming or for a good rating.
- No insiders. No confirmations from owners, employees, relatives, or anyone you have a business relationship with other than as their contractor.
- No pressure. Don't threaten customers or ask them to change or remove a rating or note.
- We limit how often one customer can confirm, block company email domains, and may audit, flag or remove confirmations. These rules follow the FTC's rule on consumer reviews (16 CFR Part 465) and its Endorsement Guides. You're responsible for following them too.
4. Quote requests and replies
- Use a customer's contact details only to answer their request. Don't add them to marketing lists, sell them, or share them.
- Follow the law when you contact customers, including telemarketing and texting rules (TCPA), anti-spam rules (CAN-SPAM) and state laws. A quote request is an invitation to contact the customer about that job only.
- Tap “I replied” only after you've actually replied. False reply records are treated like fake confirmations.
- We don't promise any number or quality of requests, jobs or revenue.
5. How your listing, status and badge work
- Your position in results comes from the published method at How it ranks: the amount of verified, sourced evidence on file. The same rules apply to everyone, including businesses owned by ProveHound's founder. No payment, subscription or sponsorship changes your position. We don't publish a numeric score, and your public listing shows only what's been checked, never what's missing.
- Your status (Verified, Claimed, See state record, Listed) updates automatically when your evidence changes, for example when insurance expires or the state record changes. Your badge shows your current status.
- If the official state record lists disciplinary case information for your license, your listing shows a neutral “See the official state record” link with the date we checked, and under the published method it can't be placed in the top ordering band.
- Disagree? Email [legal email: to be added] or use the corrections page. Send the listing, what's wrong and your proof. We aim to reply within 5 business days, and we may pause a disputed status while we check. If the error is in a government record, you'll need to fix it with that agency; we'll refresh after they do.
- Your dashboard privately shows which checks are done and which aren't yet.
6. Badges, banners, signs and our brand
- We give you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable, non-transferable license to show ProveHound badges, banners, agent signs and QR signs only as generated by our toolkit, and only for your own listed business.
- Website badges must use our live embed code. Don't copy, screenshot, edit, recolor or recreate a badge, or show one after your status changes. Banners and signs can be downloaded only while your listing is Verified. They must link or point to your live listing, and you must stop using them within 30 days if your status is no longer Verified.
- Don't say or suggest that ProveHound endorses, certifies, guarantees, insures or employs you. You may say, for example, “See our proof on ProveHound”.
- Don't use the ProveHound name or hound logo in ads, domain names, business names or search keywords without written permission.
- We can end this license at any time. When it ends, remove our badges and materials.
7. Sponsored placements
- Eligibility: a listing that is currently Verified, with no “See state record” status. If you stop qualifying, your ads stop showing automatically. Paid time doesn't roll over unless we agree in writing.
- Ads are always labeled “Sponsored” and shown apart from the ranked results. They don't affect anyone's position.
- Ads use our brand-locked templates. Your ad text must be truthful, substantiated and lawful, include any license number your state requires in ads, and make no claims about price, speed, guarantees or ratings that you can't prove. We may reject or edit ads.
- Price, placement, dates and billing are shown before you buy. If we sell recurring subscriptions, we'll show the price, billing frequency and how to cancel before you pay. You can cancel online at any time, effective at the end of the paid period. Fees are non-refundable except where the law requires, or where we stop showing your ad for reasons other than your eligibility or breach.
- You're responsible for any taxes on your purchase.
8. Your content
You keep ownership of what you submit (photos, descriptions, ad text). You give us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, display, adapt (for example resize) and share it to run and promote ProveHound, including in receipts, the API and agent results, for as long as it's on the Service and a reasonable time after. You confirm you have the rights to it and that it doesn't infringe anyone's rights or break any law.
9. Data about your business
Facts from public records (such as license numbers, statuses and disciplinary records) stay on ProveHound even if you don't claim your listing, because they come from public sources and help the public. If you haven't claimed your listing and it's unverified, you can ask us to remove it (see Corrections). Information you add yourself (photos, descriptions, lead email) is removed within 90 days of closing your account.
10. Suspension and removal
We may suspend or remove your listing, badges, sponsored placements or account if you break these terms, submit false information, harm customers, or if the law requires it. Where we can, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond, but we can act immediately for suspected fraud, forged documents, fake confirmations or safety risks. Paid amounts for placements removed because you broke these terms are not refunded.
11. Indemnity
You'll defend and cover us (including our owners and staff) against claims, losses, fines and reasonable lawyers' fees arising from: your work or services; your listing, ads or content; your breach of these terms or the law (including contact, privacy and advertising laws); or your dealings with customers.
12. Disclaimers and limits
The Terms of Use's disclaimers and limits on liability (sections 14 and 15) apply to you. For business users, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST BUSINESS, OR REPUTATIONAL HARM FROM YOUR STATUS OR POSITION, EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT CAUSED BY OUR FRAUD OR WILLFUL MISCONDUCT, OR AS THE LAW REQUIRES.
13. Disputes and governing law
The Terms of Use's governing-law and dispute sections (17 and 18) apply, using the AAA Commercial Arbitration Rules for business disputes. Before any claim about your status, position or listing, you agree to first use the correction process in section 5 and give us 30 days to respond.
14. Changes
We may update these Pro Terms. We'll email your account address at least 14 days before a material change takes effect (except changes the law or safety requires sooner). If you keep using the Service after that, you accept the change. You can close your account at any time.
