How the Proof Score works

Points earned ÷ points possible, from evidence only. Every point has a receipt.

State license
Active license, re-checked against Colorado's state records every night.
25 pts
Insurance
Certificate read by AI, approved by a person. Drops to zero the day it expires.
20 pts
Customer-confirmed jobs
The customer confirms through a link we email them. Pros can't confirm their own work.
30 pts
Response time
Measured from real requests: how many get answered, and how fast.
15 pts
Business registration
Colorado Secretary of State: in good standing.
5 pts
Years on record
How long the license or business has existed on state records.
5 pts

Rules that keep it honest

  • Missing proof costs points. We never assume a license or insurance exists.
  • Proof goes stale. State data counts only if re-checked in the last 10 days. Insurance drops to zero on its expiration date. Jobs older than 12 months count half; older than 24 months don't count.
  • Customers confirm jobs, not pros. We email the customer a one-time link. A customer email can confirm at most 3 jobs per pro per year, and emails on the pro's own website domain are excluded.
  • Customers can dispute. A disputed job is removed from the score.
  • Response time is measured, not claimed — and only counts after 3 or more real requests.
  • Discipline is shown. Any disciplinary action on the state record is displayed and caps the score at 60.
  • AI reads, people decide. AI reads uploaded certificates and flags name mismatches; a person approves them.
  • No paid rankings. No selling contact info. Rank comes only from the score. Sponsored spots are labeled and sit outside the ranked list.

Where the data comes from

  • Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies — professional and occupational licenses (public open data, refreshed nightly).
  • Colorado Secretary of State — business entity registrations (public open data).
  • Documents uploaded by the pro and reviewed by a person.
  • Customers, through confirmation links we send.
  • Our own measurement of request and reply times.

State data is provided by the State of Colorado without warranty. Always check the official record link on each listing before you sign.
